Eating & Drinking in Isarco Valley - Turmwirt Restaurant Gudon

… at the Restaurant Turmwirt
in Gudon, in the Isarco Valley

Chef Maria always prefers to serve up homemade meals. Alongside our homemade pasta dishes and ice cream, our guests particularly adore our homemade breads, served fresh from the oven. And when the season permits, our juices and grappas are also homemade. The authentic tavern cuisine is based on recipes which have been passed down through the generations, using ingredients which are, whenever possible, sourced from local farms – one of which is right next door.

A glass of good wine,
in good company

Dining in the Isarco Valley

Where hospitality and culture
have shaped the life of generations

We celebrate the joy of good wine here at the Turmwirt, and stock some of the very best wines from vineyards near and far in our cellar. But it’s the Isarco Valley wines that really grab the attention of Maria, the landlady: Take a sip for yourself, and savour the harmonious balance of tastes. On the terrace and in the age-old Stube parlour, the glasses clink in time with the welcoming hospitality of this locale, infused with five generations of family history and all the people who have come and gone over the years.

Just like a holiday

South Tyrolean history with a view, near Chiusa

The Sommo Castle to one side, and parish church on the other: The historic Restaurant Turmwirt is located in Gudon village centre, and looks out onto the mountains and villages. Located in a sunny, peaceful spot with masses of space out front, the restaurant is just two km from the Chiusa motorway exit and is the ideal place to enjoy a mouthwatering culinary stop-off, particularly for families with children: There are no dangerous roads, just meadows, rocks and gentle hills where kids can play in safety and a shady spot under the chestnut tree for their parents.

Pleasant encounters

Restaurant in South Tyrol
  • The simple farm tavern has become a well-kept inn for a summer holiday, and what’s most astounding and admirable: the straightforwardness of its owners has remained intact despite its popularity. Nothing unnatural or excessive is happening in the house, it has stayed the same in its gentleness. Progress happened only in the small things and improvements. Peace and harmony are at home here, making this a place where one feels at ease immediately.

Sunday roast in the South Tyrolean inn

    Restaurant im Südtiroler Eisacktal

    Local meat, seasonally prepared

    Südtiroler Gasthaus

The Sunday roast in the “South Tyrolean inns” was once a household name! A culinary tradition that the Südtiroler Gasthaus group revives every year. From January to March, every Sunday is cooked up according to old family tradition. And just like back in the days of Sunday roasts after church, only local and seasonal ingredients find their way into the cooking pots. You can expect local meat, seasonally prepared and enjoyment in an unmistakable inn atmosphere.

The Südtiroler Gasthaus group has 29 restaurants. Behind them are people who have made the art of hospitality their purpose in life. The innkeepers cultivate the traditional inn culture and tradition and proudly pass it on to the next generation.

Look forward to special moments of pleasure every Sunday from 12 January to 16 March 2024 with the Sunday roast at the “Südtiroler Gasthaus”.
